About us

Västergötlands Naturistförening (the naturist association of vastergotland, sweden) was formed in october 1968 and is active in Borås kommun (Sweden). We currently have about 40 members in our association, mainly from Borås and surrounding countys. We also have members from many other places in Sweden, as well as from other countries like Germany and The Netherlands. We believe in the ideas and principles of naturism and are an affiliation of the Swedish naturistfederation (SNF) and therefore also linked to the International naturist federation.

Our camping and association area is located on a small and secluded island called Stora Ekenäset in the lake Frisjön. The island is mainly covered with forest, but have plenty of walking trails and offer a great way to stroll through the swedish nature. The are several places where you can access the lake, for swimming as well as sunbathing or canoeing. We have a small beach perfect for young children and two jettys, one on either side of the island. We also have a great lawn where you can sunbathe, play badminton or just have a fika. There is plenty of trees allowing for both sunlight and shade thoughout the day. Our camping site is run on a non-profit base, by the members of our association, so we all do our best to keep the island clean and well managed. At Stora Ekenäset you will find a relaxing environment where you become one with the surrounding nature, far from traffic noise. You wake up to the birds singing, enjoy a day in the sun and finally get to see the sun set from the warmth of the grotto.

There is no electricity on the island, but we have a fresh water well. We also have a sauna on the island that we use regularly. We often spend our evenings around the fireplace or on the main patio, but also have an open fireplace inside the club house. There are two small boats that our members use to transport people on and off the island. For a small fee, members and gusets can put up a tent or rent one of the rooms in our three cabins. For more information, please see the other tabs or contact us via phone or email. We will gladly assist you and answer any inquiries.

As our camping is non-profit and run by the members of our association, the island is not always manned. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that you contact us beforehand, or there will not a anyone to pick you up on the jetty and transport you to the island.
